OnePlus Nord 6 Review: Performance Beast
OnePlus Nord 6
The OnePlus Nord 6 Indian unit has finally landed on our desk! After putting it through its paces off-camera, I have a lot to tell you. Some features made me go “Wow,” while others left me questioning OnePlus’s strategy.
Is this a worthy successor to the Nord 5, or has OnePlus taken a step backward? Grab your popcorn—your host Manoj Saru is here to break it all down.
Unboxing: A Subtle Shift
The retail box has ditched the classic black-on-black look for a fresh blue aesthetic. Inside, you’ll find:
The device (our unit feels surprisingly solid).
A high-quality protective case.
The signature Red Cable (USB-A to USB-C). Note: It’s 2026, OnePlus; we’re ready for C-to-C!
An 80W SuperVOOC fast charger.
Design & Build: Durability Over Aesthetics?
At first glance, the Nord 6 looks clean and minimalist, but there are some trade-offs:
The Feel: At 212g and 8.5mm thick, it’s noticeably heavier and bulkier than last year. The culprit? A massive battery upgrade.
Build Quality: It uses a plastic back and frame. Honestly, I miss the metal uni-body of the older generations.
The “Pro” Upgrade: Here’s the win—it now features IP66/68/69 ratings and Military Grade certification. It’s built like a tank, even if it feels a bit “plain” in the hand.
Display: A Flagship Experience
If there is one area where this phone shines, it’s the screen.
Specs: 6.78-inch, 1.5K Resolution, AMOLED, with a buttery smooth 165Hz refresh rate.
Bezels: Ultra-narrow with a 93.5% screen-to-body ratio. It looks premium.
Brightness: With 3600 nits peak brightness, outdoor visibility is flawless.
Protection: It uses Crystal Guard Glass. While I expected Gorilla Glass, the display quality itself is top-tier—vibrant, HDR-certified, and sharp.
Performance: The “Hero” Feature
This is where the Nord 6 justifies its existence. If you are a gamer, listen up:
The Powerhouse: Equipped with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage.
Gaming: We tested BGMI, and it supports 120 FPS gaming. Using the “Hyper Frame Rate” mode, you can even push toward 144Hz in supported titles.
Benchmarks: * Geekbench: Single Core: 2100 | Multi-Core: 6600.
GPU Score: A massive 13390, proving this is a gaming-first device.
Thermals: Even under extreme stress, it hovered around 39°C–40°C. It stays impressively cool for the power it packs.
Camera: The Elephant in the Room
Now for the disappointing part. While the performance went up, the camera hardware took a hit.
Rear: 50MP (Sony LYT-600) + 8MP Ultra-wide.
Front: 32MP Selfie.
The Downside: The Nord 5 had the superior Sony LYT-700 sensor and a 50MP selfie camera. At a price point near ₹40,000, the Nord 6 feels under-equipped.
Photo Quality: Photos are decent in daylight but lack the “wow” factor. Low-light shots come out soft, and HDR is just average.
Missing Piece: At this price, a Telephoto or Periscope lens is expected. Unfortunately, it’s missing here.
Battery & Software
Battery: A monstrous 9000mAh cell (yes, you read that right!). This is a two-day phone, easily.
Charging: 80W wired charging + a unique 27W Reverse Wired Charging feature to juice up your friends’ phones.
Software: OxygenOS 16 (Android 16). OnePlus is promising 4 years of OS updates and 6 years of security patches, which is fantastic for longevity.
The Verdict: Who is this for?
The OnePlus Nord 6 is a specialized machine. It isn’t trying to be an all-rounder anymore.
Buy it if:
You are a hardcore gamer who needs 120 FPS.
You want legendary battery life that lasts days.
You want a flagship-grade display for media consumption.
Estimated Price: Starting under ₹40,000.
